Glaydon Quay Lucore, 85, Mt. Pleasant Road, Penfield, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family, at home.
Born May 18, 1930, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., he was the son of the late Quay Glaydon and Sarah Leona (Briggs) Lucore. He was married to Katherine Louise "Jane" Kephart on Feb. 17, 1951. She survives.
Glaydon was a decorated Korean War Veteran, serving as Corporal in the 88th Combat Military Police.
He was a truck driver for RT Jones Lumber Company of North Tonawanda for 45 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the NRA and the Penfield Firemen's Club. He enjoyed traveling and hunting.
He lived most of his life in North Tonawanda and hadbeen a resident of Penfield since 1992.
Survivors also include three children: William Lucore of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Brenda (Jerry Barefoot) Lucore of Cary, N.C., Linda (William) Parris – North Tonawanda, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Clint, LeAnna, Spencer, Nicholas, Kaitlyn and Tyler; two brothers, Raymond (Pamela) Lucore of Deltona, Fla., Glenn Edward Lucore of Penfield; and a sister, Donna Marie Bruni of Byrnedale.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Woods officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail. Interment will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Penn Highlands Hospice.
