Iwan Worokey, 97, a guest at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the nursing home.
Iwan was born Aug. 27, 1917. He was an immigrant from the Ukraine and came over on a boat sponsored by the Presbyterian Church in Brockway. He lived his entire life in Brockway from the age of 40.
He was married to the late Rozalia Zavis for over 60 years.
Iwan worked for Brockway Glass in Brockway.
He was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church.
He loved music up until the time of his death and was known at Highland View as the life of the party, where they enjoyed him always dancing - he loved dancing. He also loved being outside, chasing deer, squirrels, and chipmunks, and loved cars and working on cars.
But most of all, he dearly loved his children.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine A. Worokey of Brockway and Catherine. He is also survived by a grandson, Michael, four additional grandchildren and two great-grandsons, Liam Christopher and Evan.
Iwan was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, one daughter, and brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Private services were held by the family. Burial was in Temple Cemetery, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County.
Memorial donations may be made to the Brockway Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home of Brookville.
