Janet A. Schiafone, 73, Euclid Avenue, Brookville, went home to be with her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. She died at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 14, 1940, in Barnesboro, she was the daughter of the late William Hart Commons and Elizabeth Taylor Commons.
She was married to William Joseph Schiafone Sr. on May 20, 2000, in Brookville. He survives.
She worked as a custodian for the Brookville Area School District for more than 25 years
She was a member of the First Church of God in Brookville. She was an area director for Gideon's International Auxiliary, a chaplain and vice-president for the Jefferson County Chapter of the Gideon's and a former member of the Aglo Organization.
She enjoyed painting and taking painting classes at the Heritage House in Brookville, but most importantly loved taking care of her home and especially her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Wargo of Hawley and Janice Bailey of Brookville; two sons, Daniel Stormer (Kelly) of Corsica and Charles Stormer of Corsica; two step-daughters, Linda Goss of Delray Beach, Fla. and Brenda Deal (Richard) of Kenesaw, Ga.; two step-sons, Allen Schiafone (Laurie) of Ridgway and William Schiafone Jr. of Erie; a sister, Phylisa Noble (William) of Tullahoma, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous step-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Stormer; three brothers: William, Charles and Richard Commons; and one sister, Betty Lou Shilling.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday, July 31, 2014) at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the First Church of God in Brookville, with the Rev. Henry Scoff officiating. Burial will be in Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville.
