Joseph Donald Novosat, 82, Weedville, passed away suddenly at home Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.
Born July 23, 1932, in Byrnedale, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Kathryn D. Darui Novosat. He married Florence Parziale Novosat on May 4, 1960. She survives in Weedville.
Joseph is also survived by a daughter, Kathryn Mertz and her fiancé, James Levenduski, of St. Marys; sister, Carolyn Jeter of York; and brother, James Novosat of St. Marys.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John; and grandson, Devin Mertz.
Joseph served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and a machinist at GTE Sylvania of St. Marys.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Weedville American Legion for 36 years as well as a past member of the Bennetts Valley Lions Club.
A private service was held Friday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. Fr. William Sutherland officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Weedville American Legion Burial Detail. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Force.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield.
