Kenneth E. Allshouse Sr., 76, of Distant, died on Friday afternoon, May 13, 2016, at the Clarion Hospital.
Born on Nov. 17, 1939, in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Herman and Esther (Bechtel) Allshouse. On July 3, 1971, he married Doris (Frampton).
Ken worked for Rola Jensen and Crawford Furniture. He also worked for KMA Remarketing Corporation until his retirement.
He served his country in The United States Marine Corps from July, 8 1957, to June 21, 1960, and with the reserves until July 7, 1963.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris Allshouse of Distant; two sons, Kenneth E. Allshouse Jr. and his wife, Kerry of Reynoldsville and Kevin L. Allshouse and his wife, Robin of Summerville; four daughters: Teresa Smith of DuBois, Carrie Adams and her husband, Bryan of Hawthorn, Andrea Metcalf and her husband, Edward of Monaca, and Lori Allshouse of Distant; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Culver of Warren, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Allshouse, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, May 16, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Short officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post 354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will be in the Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning.
