Mary Jane Volovar Powers of Enola, Pa., passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 29, 2014. She was born in St. Marys on Dec. 20, 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Powers; her parents, Clarence and Esther Volovar; and her sister-in-law, Rhonda Volovar.
She is survived by her mother Virginia Volovar of St. Marys and her stepson Dr. Stephen Powers of Stow, Ohio.
In addition, she is survived by her fiancé, C. Allen Galbraith of Enola; her sister Margaret "Peg" Swanson and her husband Paul of Kersey, Pa.; brother Andrew Volovar and his fiancé Deb Rozanski of Middletown, Pa.; sister Ann Bero and husband Christopher of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and brother Frank Volovar of St. Marys, as well as, nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces that were all such an important part of her life.
Mary Jane graduated from New Castle Business College with a degree specializing in medical records. She was employed as a medical records specialist at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio, for 30 years. For the past eight years she was Medical Records Supervisor at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pa.
Mary Jane will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. The cards she would so consistently send will be missed.
A Mass celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes, 225 Salt Road, Enola, PA. Burial will be at the St. Mary's, Catholic Cemetery, St. Marys, at the convenience of the family.
It was Mary Jane's request that there be no flowers and that instead donations be made in her memory to the Central PA. Food Bank, 3908 Corey Road, Harrisburg, PA,; Holy Spirit Hospital, 503 N.21st Street, Camp Hill, PA or The Wounded Warrior Project.
