Norman E. Geiger, 84, DuBois, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born July 3, 1931, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Eugan J. and Hedwig A. (Lemprecht) Geiger.
Norman married Marion A. Buehrmann on May 18, 1957 in Irvington, N.J. She survives.
Norman graduated from Irvington High School in N.J., and then studied at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Norman worked as a mechanical engineer at Alcatel-Lucent Industries. His career allowed him to work on developing the first ultrasound equipment. He also worked as an associate engineer developing laser telescopes.
Norman served on the Board of Directors for First Commonwealth Bank and was a member of numerous clubs, including: Treasure Lake Lions Clubs, Germanian Masonic Lodge, Treasure Lake Property Owners Association and the DuBois Historical Society.
He enjoyed metalworking, model boat building, boating, waterskiing, and drawing with his granddaughter.
Norman served in the army with 9th Infantry Division during the Korean War and reached the rank of sergeant.
He is survived by a daughter, Heidi M. Suttmiller of Cranberry Township; a granddaughter, Loren H. Suttmiller; a sister, Eleonore H. Geiger of DuBois; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Paula Buehrmann, as well as two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no public visitation. A private service was held at the convenience of the family.
