Stephen M. Klender, 69, of Reynoldsville, Pa. died on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Pa.
Born Sunday, Aug. 18, 1946, in DuBois, Pa., he was the son of the late Matthew Klender, who passed away Nov. 14, 1980 and the late Mary Eleene (Burton) Klender, who passed away Dec. 19, 2006.
He was a 1965 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and was a good team player. He was a former employee of Stackpole in St. Marys; he then retired from B&O Railroad. he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. His favorite pastimes were gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. He had many friends with whom he liked to socialize and enjoyed spending time with family.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, F.O. Eagles #540 in Reynoldsville and American Legion Post 392.
Surviving are brothers, Patrick Klender (Donna) of Reynoldsville, Pa. and Michael Klender (Cathy) of Weedville, Pa.; sisters, Rita Manners of Rochester, N.Y., Janet Landis of Big Run, Pa. and Ann Marie Philp (Phil) of Reynoldsville, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brother, Dennis Klender; brother-in-law, James Manners; and nephew, Matthew Klender.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 607 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. Richard Tomasone officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Pa.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Wound Clinic, Dr. Peck's office, Hahne Cancer Center, Penn Highlands, all the nurses at Home Health and the Christ the King Manor for their loving care of Steve.
