Thomas Stanton, 87, of DuBois, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, in Dubois.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1928 in DuBois, a son of the late Samuel and Isabel (Harrison) Stanton. On July 7, 1964, he married Barbara Ann Lombardo, who passed away July 1, 2012.
Thomas attended Sandy Twp. High School. After school, he went on to work for the DuBois Brewery and delivered ice; he retired from Rockwell after 40 years of service as a foreman; after his retirement, he was employed by Osburn's Buick.
He was a former member of the Sandy Hose Company and the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Samuel Stanton of West Virginia, Thomas Stanton of Hazen, and Joseph Stanton of DuBois; one daughter, Linda Moore and husband Earle of DuBois; seven grandchildren: Alan Moore of Treasure Lake, Jason Moore of Ft. Bragg, Calif., Kelly (Moore) price of Waynesboro, Pa., Samuel Stanton of DuBois, Elizabeth Stanton of Corsica, Andrew and Sarah Stanton of DuBois; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters; Irene Reitz and Betty Farkas; and a brother, Joseph Stanton. He was the last member of his generation.
Friends will be received at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery.
