Wilmer "Pete" H. Humphrey, 87, of Sykesville, Pa., died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Penn Highlands DuBois in DuBois, Pa.
Born Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank C. Humphrey and the late Lillian O. (Rhodes) Humphrey. He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Torrell) Humphrey.
He was an awesome husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and was a season ticket holder for Notre Dame and the Pittsburgh Steelers for most of his life. He was a fan of big band music and enjoyed spending time at the beach.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was the owner of Humphrey Radio and TV in Reynoldsville. He was a longtime coach of midget football and managed various age levels in baseball.
He was a member of the Reynoldsville American Legion Post #392, the Reynoldsville and Sykesville Eagles, the Punxsutawney Moose, DuBois VFW and the Rockne Club of Notre Dame.
He is survived by his sons, Todd Humphrey (Vicky) of Reynoldsville, Pa., and Jay Humphrey of Sykesville, Pa.; daughter, Gina Swan of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Dorsy Hill of Denver, Colo., and Judy Watters of Huntsville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Kevin Swan of Philadelphia, Pa., Bryan Swan (Emily) of Manassas, Va., and Gabrielle Humphrey of Reynoldsville, Pa.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Humphrey.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at First United Methodist Church, located at 504 Jackson St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851 with the Rev. Leo C. Cramer officiating. Military honors will be preformed by the DuBois Area Honor Guard following the service. Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa.
