Thomas Martorano Obituary

Thomas M. Martorano, 46, of Pittsgrove, formerly of Vineland, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at home.

Born in East Islip, N.Y., to Lorraine Fallon and the late Carl Martorano, he moved to South Jersey more than 20 years ago. Thomas studied criminal justice and business at Cumberland and Salem County Colleges. He proudly graduated from the Gloucester County Police Academy in 1993. He then went on to serve and protect as a police officer with the Vineland Police Department for 16 years, having worked as a detective for eight of those years. He was a former coach for the Vineland Pigtail League when his girls played ball and a member of the Lutheran Redeemer Church of Vineland, where he was on the church bowling team. Thomas enjoyed camping, boating, fixing cars and listening to oldies music. He had a love for all animals, especially bald eagles and his dogs. Most of all the love of his life was his family and sharing time with them.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jennie Perez-Martorano of Pittsgrove; his two precious daughters, Laura and Andrea Martorano at home; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Claire and Roland Perez of Fairton; and brother-in-law, Michael Perez and his wife Kimberly and their son Jacob Perez of Maple Shade; his mother, Lorraine Blanchard of Nevada; stepmother, Beverly Martorano of Nevada; two sisters, Patricia and Jennifer Blanchard; and two brothers, Eric and Louis Martorano. Also by his stepsister, Stephanie Pinette; and stepbrother, Thomas Blanchard; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Redeemer Church, 2384 E. Landis Ave., Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial is private.

Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the children's educational trust fund, payable to Claire Perez, memo educational account, P.O. Box 187, Fairton, NJ 08320.

Dear Jennie, I'm so sorry to hear about Tom. I don't know if you remember me but Tom and I worked together at the VPD, in the bureau. May the Lord keep you and the girls in the palm of his hand and may his love comfort you during this sad time. Louis Negron (Retired VPD)
