Frederick "Jim" Donaldson, 80, of Newfield passed away on Wednesday morning, March 27, 2013, in the Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia, after a brief illness.
Jim was born in Estell Manor, and was a longtime Newfield resident. He was the son of the late Frederick and Grace (Parker) Donaldson. He also was predeceased by his wife, Janet E. (Donoflio), in 1987.
Before retiring, Jim was employed as a machinist for Owens-Illinois Kimble Glass Co in Vineland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served on the USS Salem during the Korean War. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing and clamming as well as traveling. He was a member of the Vineland Masonic Lodge No. 69, American Legion Post No. 82, Millville, Bucarou Gun Club, Quinton Sportsmen Club and the USS Salem Association. Jim also was a longtime member of the Christ Community Church, Newfield.
He is survived by his wife, Pat (Reed); daughter, Wendy Simpson; son, Richard (Tracy) Donaldson; stepson, Carmen (Kriston) Savoca; stepdaughter, Nicole Savoca; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) Moore, Amy and Jim Simpson; one great-granddaughter, Avelin Janet Moore; two sisters, Sue (Hop) Edwards and Helen (Frank) Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Jim) Forcinito, Diane (Ken) Reber, and Nancy Donoflio and Cathy Donoflio; brother-in-law, Ronald (Rita) Reed; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, where his funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Landisville.
