John R. Gorman

John R. Gorman, 63, of Hammonton (Hamilton Township) died Saturday morning, Jan. 4, 2014 at his home while under the care of his daughter, his family and hospice. A longtime resident of the Hammonton area, John was born in Bridgeton and was the son of Dorothy P. (nee Quigley) Gorman of Millville and the late John B. Gorman, who died in 1994. He attended Vineland High School with the class of 1969 and served for five years in the United States Marine Corps
. John was honorably discharged following his distinguished service to his country during the Vietnam Era. John served as a member of the Wildwood Police force and later worked at the Trump Taj Mahal for ten years. For the past 15 years he worked for Atlantic County as a member of the Atlantic County Park Police. He was a member of the Weymouth Volunteer Fire Department and was active as an EMT with the former Weymouth Rescue Squad. John was a self-described sports fanatic and he loved the Philadelphia teams, especially the Eagles.
He is survived by, in addition to his mother, one daughter, Robyn C. Kennedy; twin granddaughters, Becca and Brianne Kennedy; four sisters, Phyllis Lowers, Stella Grogg, Mary Gilson and Karen Gorman; two brothers, Louis B. Gorman and David W. Gorman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Kennedy Jr. in 2012 and a brother, Warren Gorman in 1975.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy on Friday morning, January 10th at 11 o'clock at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Joseph Church, Third and French Streets in Hammonton where friends will be received from 10 until 11. The burial will military honors will follow at the Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery in Estell Manor.
