Joseph A. Testa

Joseph A. Testa, 79, of The Villages, Fla., died suddenly on Monday, Dec. 5, 2012.

He was born and lived in Vineland before moving to The Villages, Fla., in 1997. Joe worked in the Scientific Glassware Industry Management, was CEO of J&S Real Estate Investments and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a standout football, baseball and basketball player at Vineland High School and at Fort Benning, Ga. He was a high school/college basketball official for IABBO Cumb Cape District 196 for 35 years. In 2004, he was inducted in the Greater Vineland Baseball League Hall of Fame. In retirement, he became an avid golfer achieving eight "holes in one," and in 2001 he won the Phillips Golf Tournament in The Villages. Joe was a bowler for Hacienda South mixed Bowling League, a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagle fan, member of The Villages Italian Gumba Club and The Villages South Jersey Club, member of VFW, St. Isidore Catholic Church, NJ, and St. Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages. His inspiration song throughout life was "I Did It My Way."

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Juliette (Fussell)Testa; daughter, Shari Testa of Vineland; sons, Daryl (Betsy) Testa of Potomac, Md., and Brian (Denise) Testa of Hockessin, Del.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., at 1 p.m. following the service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in Vineland at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Villages Regional Hospital or the American Veterans of Foreign Wars.
