Joseph Marvin Ashmore

Joseph Marvin Ashmore passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Camden, NJ on April 17th 1932 to the late Joseph and Mary (Leifried) Ashmore and resided in Southern New Jersey most of his life. Marvin (Mo) graduated Merchantville High in 1950. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and after an honorable discharge worked as an air conditioning contractor. Marvin was an excellent athlete. He loved playing basketball and baseball. Mo could often be found in the park playing from sunup to sundown with his brothers. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling. Marvin became an instant friend to almost everyone he met. He enjoyed helping others and loved to talk.

He is survived by his former wife, Joan (Lakee) Ashmore; three sons and their wives, John Ashmore, Joseph and Lia Ashmore and James and Lillian Ashmore. He is also survived by his three brothers and their wives, Bobby Ashmore - Arkansas, Donald and Sandra Ashmore - Tennessee and Larry and Brenda Ashmore - Montana. He is also survived by his companion, Peg; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Jason, Crystal, Jonathan, Miles, Nicole, Ross, Isabella, Sophia and April; four nieces, Debbie, Tristie, Melanie, Tara and a nephew, Bobby. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Sarah Jean Ashmore.
