Robert G. Carter, 70, of Vineland passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 31, 2013, at home where he had been under the care of friends and family.
Bob was born and raised in Philadelphia, and had resided in Vineland since 1980. He was the son of the late Loretta and Robert Carter, and the husband of the late Linda (Morrell) Carter, who died in 2001. He was also predeceased by a sister, Loretta M. Ehling.
Before retiring, Bob was employed as the senior vice president of human resources for Spencer Gifts in Pleasantville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Navy Reserve as a chief petty officer with 28 years of service. He was a charter member of the Vineland Soccer Association and was an active soccer parent.
He is survived by two children, Christopher T. and wife Jacquelyn Carter, and Marci D. Carter; three grandchildren, Noah, Logan Carter and Mia Walter; seven brothers and sisters, Gail Griffith, Margaret Landgraf, Helen, Gerald, Charles, Christopher and Shawn Carter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, where his memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Cremation and inurnment will be private.
