Daniel Asselta Obituary

Daniel Asselta

AGE: 91 • Newfield

Daniel Asselta, 91, of Newfield, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 surrounded by his family. Daniel was born in Vineland to the late James and Mary Asselta. Daniel was a long time resident of Newfield and St. Augustine, Florida. He married the love of his life, Theresa (Delesantro) on May 11, 1946 and raised three children, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage.

Prior to retirement Daniel was a self employed wedding photographer, a refrigeration mechanic at Sears, worked at Dr. Pepper and Tru Ade and most recently was a Prudential Insurance Salesman from 1958 to 1984. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Newfield, one of the founding fathers of the Newfield Swim Club (1959). He and his good friend, Vince Iovacchini created ViDan Corp. which developed many properties and especially Quail Run Estates in Newfield Boro. He also served on Newfield Council for many years, participating in many service projects in town.

While always a hard worker, Daniel also knew how to enjoy life to the fullest, sharing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren his love of ice cream and the beach. His interests included golfing, reading, photography, sketching and spending time with his family, especially in Sea Isle City and St. Augustine, Florida.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, pop-pop and great-grandfather and uncle. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Theresa; sister Vivian Panichello; his children, Diane Boniello (Pat), James Asselta (Lynette) of St. Augustine, FL and Mary Ann Luciano (Feek); grandchildren, Pamela Brunini (Doug), Laura Miller (Ryan), Danielle Sapienza (Bob), Kate Trebelhorn (Paul) and Maya Asselta; four great-grandchildren, Gianna & Julia Brunini and Ryder & Cala Miller and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral home visitation will be held on Thursday from 10am to 12pm followed by a funeral service at 12pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newfield.
