Charles H. Hatcher, II

AGE: 83 • Millville

Charles H. "Chick" Hatcher II, 83 of Millville, died on Wednesday at the Lincoln Specialty Care Center in Vineland after an extended illness. Born in Millville, Chick was a life long resident. He was a graduate of Millville High School class of 1949, and after graduation joined the United States Army, and served in the Korean War. Chick then went to work for Wheaton Industries in the decorating lab, and retired after 46 years of service. Chick was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles (their biggest fan) and the Phillies. He also, for many years served as a Midget Football League Referee and also worked as a fast pitch softball umpire. Chick always enjoyed watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports, and coached his daughters softball teams. He enjoyed going to the casinos and playing poker. Chick was a long time member of the Millville Elks and the Millville Thunderbolt Club. He was a loving husband, dad and grandfather. Chick and his wife of 63 years, Dale (Rehman) were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Millville.

Survivors include: wife, Dale at home; daughter, Cathy Parvin and her husband Jeff of Millville; son in law, James LaFerriere; grandchildren, Travis LaFerriere (Casey), Katie Drake (Kyle), J. Scott Parvin (Stef), and Joshua Parvin (Ashley); great grandchildren, Charlotte and Quinn LaFerriere, Kane Drake, Kaeden and Kiley Parvin. He was pre-deceased by: daughter, Cheryl Hatcher-LaFerriere; brothers, Harry and Chester Hatcher; sisters, Mary Hiles and Katherine Owens.

Services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon in the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home of Millville. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11am until 12 noon.
