Mary (Kurnava) Schaper, 80, of Rosenhayn passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Mrs. Schaper was born and raised in Uniontown, Pa., and was a longtime resident of Rosenhayn. She was the daughter of the late Jesse (Schultz) and John Kurnava and the wife of the late Herbert H. Schaper, who died in 1995. Mary migrated from Western Pennsylvania to the Bridgeton area to work at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. After marrying and starting her family she worked for Mrs. Richards at Richards Catering. Along with her family, Mary was owner and operator of Schaper Catering in Rosenhayn. She was a member of the Rosenhayn United Methodist Church and the Rosenhayn Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed doing puzzles, embroidery, cooking and baking, but most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, two daughters, Brenda (Bill) Closser and Diana Schaper Yearicks, and three sons, Frank (Lisa), Keith (Julie), and Chris (Tammy) Schaper; seven grandchildren, Dan Closser, Andrea Yearicks, Jessica, Holly, Keithryan, Jaelyn and Abbie Schaper; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Desiree and Anthony; one sister, Pauline Bussy; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, where her funeral service will be conducted at noon. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Rosenhayn.
