Robert Carl Murray, age 67, beloved husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed away on February 20, 2014 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Dover, NJ and worked for Scott Paper Company in Landisville, NJ for 25 years. He lived in Vineland most of his life and attended Vineland Public Schools. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Port St. Lucie, FL and lived there for six years before returning to their hometown of Vineland in April, 2013.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Olive Murray, and brother, Eugene Murray, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Arlene Landi Murray, sons, Michael (Amanda) Murray and Brian (Kellie) Murray; Grandchildren, Brian Murray Jr., Brandon Murray, Dillon Murray, Jackson Murray, Blake Murray, Thomas Santangelo, and Taylor Santangelo; Brothers, Richard (Valerie) Murray, James (Diane) Murray and sisters, Susan (Fran) Schooley and Patricia Murray and many nieces and nephews.
His first job was at Pantry Pride, and then at Shop Rite in Vineland before starting his career at Scott Paper Company for 25 years. After his retirement, he worked for a short time at Home Depot where he helped to open the store at the Cumberland Mall. Later in life, his two sons introduced him to the game of golf and he immediately fell in love. He spent most of his spare time on the golf course, both in Florida and New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in the yard or fishing, but his favorite past-time was being with his grandchildren. He also loved hanging out with the "guys" at the Fire Hall in Vineland.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, Sacred Heart Church, Vineland. Robert will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland and again on Wednesday morning at the CHURCH from 9:30am to 10:45am.
