Martha Nichols Gosbin, 82, of Bridgeton died following a lengthy illness at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2012. She had been a resident of Genesis Elder Care in Millville.

Mrs. Gosbin was the widow of Wesley F. "Gabby" Gosbin Sr., who died in May of 2011. They had been married for 66 years at the time of Mr. Gosbin's death.

She was born in Bridgeton and was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Press Nichols. A lifelong Bridgeton resident, she lived at her current address since 1952.

Mrs. Gosbin held several different positions and retired, following her time as a medical clerk and receptionist for doctors Iqbal and Kahn in Bridgeton.

For many years, she was active with the local and county PTA, where she held several different offices. In addition, she was a life member of the state PTA. Mrs. Gosbin also enjoyed painting and was a member of the Society of NJ Artists and had been that organization's membership chair.

She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne Gerbino of Bridgeton and Barbara Pace (Russell) of Hopewell Township; one son, Bruce R. Gosbin of Vineland; three grandchildren, Nicole Roberts (Dr. Nathan), Richard Gerbino Jr. and Jaime Pflieger (Michael); four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Colin and Michael Pflieger and Riley Roberts; and one brother, James Nichols of Millville.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gosbin was preceded in death by a son, Wesley F. Gosbin Jr., in 1996; a daughter-in-law, Amelia Gosbin, in 2009; and a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Nichols, in 1987.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Pastor John Robbins of The Malaga Camp will officiate. The burial will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.

Friends will be received at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and also Tuesday morning from 10 until 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Gosbin's memory are suggested to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360.
