Phyllis Jean Pifer Obituary
Phyllis Jean Pifer, 82 of Coldwater earned her angel wings after a short battle with cancer Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Pierce of First Baptist Church of Coldwater officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson-Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
Phyllis was born February 25, 1936 to Jesse and Odell (Kerr) Gregg in Montpelier, OH. She grew up in Bryan and graduated high school there. On May 29, 1955 she married the love of her life, Albert Pifer in Bryan. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1995. Phyllis worked for a time at Otto's Sporting Goods in the Toy Department and then for many years as an at home babysitter.
Phyllis was a woman of faith and a past member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors spending time camping and competing in archery events, winning many awards over the years. Phyllis also liked gardening and was a member of the Coldwater Garden Club.
She loved spending time organizing family gatherings. Her true joy in life was being around children, those she babysat, her own, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She remembered for her loving spirit and always having a hug for those around her. Phyllis was known as "Grandma" by many.
Mrs. Pifer is survived by her children Vicky May of Coldwater, Shelley (Jeff) Calloway of Bronson; her grandchildren Jesse (Lisa) Pifer, Nicholas Pifer, Stacey (David Feathers) Pifer, Randy (Meggan) Pifer, Rachelle (Jimmy) Freeman, Kari (Todd) Segar, Katie (Daryl) Bontrager, and Adam (Konni) Calloway; twelve great grandchildren and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Albert; her son Randy Pifer; and her brother Paul Gregg.
Memorials may be directed to Foster Closet of Branch County.
