James Alan Blair Sr. Obituary
James Alan Blair, Sr., 65, of Brooklyn, Connecticut lost his battle with cancer on Monday, June 30, 2014.

He was born in Coldwater, Michigan on December 27, 1948, the son of Betty (Stiles) Blair of Quincy, Michigan and the late James L. Blair. Jim was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University receiving his bachelor's degree in Deaf Education and master's degree in Administration.

He spent the last 25 years of his career as the Director of Pupil Personnel in the Plainfield Public School system from which he retired in 2011. He was also an adjunct professor at Quinebaug Valley Community College teaching special education and sign language.

Jim also participated in many special education committees on the state and national level. Jim was very passionate about children and young adults, caring for all as though they were his own.

He dedicated many years of his life to coaching basketball, baseball, and soccer, both locally and in his home state of Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with family and friends, fishing, photography, playing golf, and following Detroit sports. Jim considered Lake Winnipesaukee, NH his home away from home.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen L. (Remarski) Blair and their three sons: Jason M. Ulisse of North Kingstown, RI and his wife Susan (DiStefano) Ulisse and their two daughters, Lauren and Mackenzie, James A. Blair, Jr. of El Paso, TX and his wife Laura (Windlan) Blair, and Brian J. Blair of Dedham, MA and his wife Christine (Riley) Blair and their son Thomas. He also leaves behind his brothers, Terry Blair of Indiana, Jack Blair of Kentucky, and William Blair of Michigan. He was predeceased by his brother Steven Blair of Michigan.

Family and friends may visit Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson, CT on Thursday, July 3 from 5:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Church, 21 Providence Road, Brooklyn, CT on Friday, July 4 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in honor of Jim to the Jim Blair Memorial Scholarship Fund, Care of Plainfield Guidance Department, Plainfield High School, 87 Putnam Road, Central Village, CT, 06332.
