Arthur E. Franke Obituary
Arthur E. Franke, 85, of Bronson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his winter residence in Arcadia, Florida.

The funeral service will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Gilead Community Church in Gilead Twp. with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at North Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2 -5:00 PM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.

Arthur was born April 15, 1928 in Fordson, MI to Herbert A. & Ruth (Lawrence) Franke. He married Eloise I. Oom on May 20, 1949 in Grand Rapids, MI.

Mr. Franke graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids in 1946 and later from the GM Kettering Institute. He worked for several years at General Motors then went to work for Ford Motor Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Arthur devoted his career to finding new ways of doing old business teaching others," If good ideas didn't need improving, we would still be driving Model T's."

He was a leading engineer who pushed his team to make Ford a leader in automation and quality. Automation parts designed and built under Arts leadership are still in use today. Upon his retirement, Arthur and his wife relocated to Bronson which they have loved, after spending many years living in a metropolitan area.

Arthur's greatest joy in life was his family as they had spent much time together at their cottage in Fremont, MI. He absolutely loved to travel and enjoyed playing golf and working puzzles. Arthur was a devout Christian, attending Bethel-Gilead Community Church.
Arthur is survived by his wife Eloise, his son Dr. Arthur (Susan) Franke of Ann Arbor, his daughters Bobbi (Dale) Norton of Bronson, Cynthia (Zach) Hallum of Culpeper, VA, Jennette Cannon of Stevensville, his grandchildren Michael Norton of Bronson, Dr. Elizabeth (Ryan) Daly, Dr. Arthur J. Franke all of NY, NY, Robert Franke of Madison, WI, Morgen (Jamie) Bearse of CoCo Beach, FL, Holly Hallum of Melbourne, FL, Alison Hallum of Culpeper, VA, 3 great grandchildren Sarah, Ethen & Ben, nieces and nephews Mary, Ranee & David Audette. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother Herb & Pauline Franke, his mother Ruth Lawrence, his sister Lillian Audette and his son-in-law Kevin Cannon.

Memorials may be directed to Bethel Gilead Community Church or New Tribes Missions.
