Jack M. Weidman Sr., age 73, of Dushore, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital Towanda, Pa.
Jack was born Oct. 16, 1939 in East Stroudsburg, Pa., a son of the late Jacob and Roxie DeHaven Weidman. He began working with construction and formed his own excavating business in East Stroudsburg.
He married the former Betty J. Soden of East Stroudsburg on May 18, 1957.
Jack ran his business in the Pocono's until he moved to Sullivan County in 1995. Here he operated his excavating business and also drove school bus for the Sullivan County School District. He operated his business for over 40 years. Never relaxing Jack spent his spare time tinkering on and repairing equipment in his garage.
Jack was member of Masonic Lodge No. 780 F.&A.M. in Cresco, Pa., and a social member of Loyalsock American Legion Post No. 996, Dushore, Pa.
Surviving is his spouse Betty at home; two sons Charles Weidman of Florida and Jack (Wanda) Weidman Jr. of Allentown, Pa.; three daughters Debra Weidman of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Susan Campbell of Walton, N.Y. and Carol (Lorenzo) Coco of Bangor, Pa.; a brother Gary (Gwen) Weidman of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; a sister Patricia Brink of East Stroudsburg, Pa., two sisters-in-law Elsie (Bob) Jericho of Reeders, Pa. and Mary Hedglin of Fernandina, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., with the Rev. Robert W. Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, 501 Prospect St., East Stroudsburg, Pa. at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
There will be a Masonic service for Jack Milton Weidman Sr. at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and request that memorial contributions be directed to the Dushore Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614, or Loyalsock Post No. 996 American Legion, P.O. Box 175, Dushore, PA 18614.
