David Joslyn, 74 of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Odessa, N.Y., died unexpectedly at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio after complications from a longtime battle with congestive heart failure. He was born Feb. 14, 1939 in Seneca Falls, N.Y., a son of Sara Scott Joslyn and Claude Joslyn and grew up in Burlington, Pa.
David proudly served in the U.S. Army. In addition to serving in the military, he also worked as a mechanic on engines and did maintenance work for various companies. Even after retirement he continued doing odd jobs for people in order to stay busy. Not only did he love his country, but he was also a very loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his four daughters Lisa (Ray), Lauri (Mark), Darla and Kelly (Bob); 11 brothers and sisters Margaret States of Tampa, Fla., Edna Robbins of Jamestown, Pa., Richard Joslyn, Velma Leonard, and Frank Joslyn of Watkins Glenn, N.Y., Alice Sampson of Burlington, Pa., Shirley Buck of Canton, Pa., Claude Joslyn of Troy, Pa., Barbara Williams and Gary Joslyn of Towanda, Pa., and Judy Henley of Penn Yan, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Theresa, Rachel, Jocelyn, Kala, Brittany, Kyle, and Robert; eight great-grandchildren; long-time companion Sandy Stevens; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncle. David was predeceased by his wife, Betty Dodge Joslyn and his parents, Sara Scott Joslyn and Claude Joslyn.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa., with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701 in David Joslyn's memory.
