Albert Zosh, age 78, of Lopez, Pa., passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Albert was born July 28, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a son of the late Andrew G. and Susan Homza Zosh. He graduated from Turnpike High School, a member of the class of 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
in 1955 and served in the U.S., and also in Japan, and was discharged in 1958. During his time in the service he completed a year of college.
Upon discharge, he was employed as a member of the Meriden CT Fire Department and served there until retiring in 1983. In Meriden, he enjoyed camping with his family and was also the president of the local International Association of Fire Fighters, and moved to Lopez in 1986. In retirement he enjoyed collecting colored gemstones. He also loved to be with his grandchildren, as they were the light of his life.
He was formerly a member of Ss. Peter and Paul's Byzantine Catholic Church, in Lopez, Pa., and was currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, Pa.
Surviving are his daughter, Sonia Ann (Andrew) Wendt of Constableville, N.Y.; three brothers, Andrew J. Zosh of Montrose, Pa., Thomas Zosh of Akron, N.Y., and John Zosh of Alden, N.Y.; sister, Mrs. Madeleine O'Leary of Meriden, Conn.; brother-in-law, Robert Halliday of Langhorne, Pa.; son-in-law, James Craddock of Dushore, Pa.; four grandchildren, Morgan Burd, Aimee Craddock, Sophia Burd and Hewson Burd, all of Constableville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Monica Lynn Craddock of Dushore, Pa., on Oct. 21, 2012; a brother, Stephen Zosh of Lopez, Pa., on Dec. 3, 1979; and a sister, Isabelle Halliday of Mildred, Pa., on Jan. 28, 1983.
A transferal service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., and will be followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, Pa., with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Lopez, Pa.
