Alma Helen Stroud, 83, of 157 Howlin Lane, Troy, Pa., Springfield Township, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, from the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township, Pa.
Alma was born in Sayre, Pa. on Nov. 10, 1930, the daughter of Vernor L. Walmsley and Alma Mae Smith Walmsley. Alma's passion in life was her love of God and our savior Jesus Christ along with her everlasting love of family and her pets. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, bird watching, hiking, hunting, fishing and painting in oils and water colors.
Surviving are her children, Joseph R. Stroud Jr. and wife Marybeth of Easley, S.C., Jerry L. Stroud and wife Adelia of Kissimmee, Fla., John L. Stroud of Parrish, Ala., Jean L. Zwerling of Goldsboro, N.C., Jeff L. Stroud and wife Bette of Wysox, Michael L. Stroud and wife Angela of Powell, Pa., Linda S. Watkins and husband Howard of Troy; grandchildren, Janice, April, M.J., Destiny, Haley, Tracey, Tiffany, Alexis, Jessica; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Cooley of LeRaysville, Mary Novotny and husband Paul of Centerville; brothers, George Walmsley and wife Alice of Bentley Creek, Vernor J. Walmsley of Centerville; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her special cat, Amber. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Stroud Sr. on June 26, 1976; brother, Donald Walmsley; brother-in-law, David Cooley; and her canine companion, Suzie.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Father Brian Wright officiating. Interment will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
