Ann M. Brown Acla

Ann M. Brown Acla, 64, of Towanda Township, Pa. passed away Monday evening, March 10, 2014, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Ann was born in Sayre, Pa. on March 17, 1949, the daughter of Edwin and Kathaleen Krause Brown. She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School class of 1968 and in early years was employed by the former Marie Foyle Nursing Home in Towanda. Ann was employed by Alpine Cleaners in Wysox for over 25 years and was subsequently employed by the Bradford County Manor and by Zimmerman's Security at E. I. DuPont in Towanda. Ann returned to work at the Bradford County Manor and was employed there for 10 years until declining health no longer permitted her to continue. Ann enjoyed country music and was a member of the Penn-York Country Music Club. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, camping at Sunfish Pond, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Acla; sons, Brian Ivan Acla of Dushore, Lawrence Colby Acla of Lancaster, Pa., Todd Atla Acla and wife Monica of LeRoy; grandchildren, James, Cassidy, Ryleigh, Elizabeth, Kiersten, Sarah, Taylor, Taryn, Tiffany and Trinity; sisters, Laura Blowers and husband Perry of Monroeton, Helen Dickinson and husband Randy of Mildred, Connie Ridall and husband Mark of Mehoopany; brothers, Edwin Brown III., of Towanda, Theodore Brown of Newark, N.J., John Brown and wife Gail of Swoyersville, Pa., Charles Brown and wife Rose of Rolla, Mo., Llewellyn Brown and wife Judy of Shertz, Texas, Woodrow Brown and wife Hannelore of Hollenback, Alan Brown and wife Gail of St. Petersburg, Fla., Leroy Brown and wife Debbie of Glendale, Ariz., Guy Brown and wife Tammy of Macedonia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Thomas and Carl Brown; and by her sister-in-law, Betty Jane Northrup.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with Pastor Terry Van Horn of the New Albany Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa.
