Audrey J. Bice

Audrey J. Bice, 90, of Herrick Township, Pa., formerly of Augusta, Ga. passed away Monday evening, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Audrey was born July 26, 1923 in August, Ga. the daughter of James T. and Nellie Leopard Stevens. She was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. On April 6, 1946 she married Ray A. Bice in Bethany, Conn. In early years, Audrey was employed by the Winchester Company and later served as a substitute teacher in Voluntown, Conn. In 1977, Audrey and Ray moved to Georgia and resided in various areas in the south during their retirement years. The couple enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting competitions, and dancing with the Bass City Square Dance Club. Audrey enjoyed watch repair, painting in oils, wool spinning and conducting spinning demonstrations at schools and fairs.

Surviving are: her son David A. Bice of Mililani, Hawaii; grandson, Adam Bice of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Gladys Durley of Rome, Pa.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ray, on Sept. 26, 2009.

Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the Burial Grounds of the Congregational Church, Bethany, Conn. The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home of Towanda, Pa. is assisting Audrey's family with arrangements. Memories and condolences may be expressed by visiting
