Catherine M. Smith, age 73, of Forksville, Pa., passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, Pa., after a long battle with progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Catherine, one of nine children of the late Norman and Margaret Boyles Sullivan, was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Hillsgrove, Pa. She married Emery Francis Smith of New Albany on Nov. 18, 1960. He predeceased her on Oct. 7, 2001.
Catherine was a homemaker, a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for the many large family dinners that she hosted at her home. She also loved to fish, especially in the Susquehanna River.
Surviving her are her son, Emery (Lisa) Smith of Dushore, Pa.; three daughters, Susan (Stephen) Bednarik of Southampton, Pa., Bonnie (Tony) Mignot of Hughesville, Pa., Kim (Randy Loeb) Wade of Hamburg, Pa.; three brothers, Alvah (Beatrice) of Sullivan Rose Valley, Pa., Rev. Kenneth (Lois) Sullivan of Auburn, N.Y., Ronald Sullivan of Wyalusing, Pa.; sister-in-law, Connie Lou Smith of Estella, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Stephen Bednarik, Nichole Bednarik, Clarissa Paige, Cassandra Mignot, Christina Mignot, Jon Wade, Caleb Wade, Ryan Smith and Evan Smith; two great-grandchildren, Keiarra Shaffer and Liam Bednarik; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Jane Hubbard, Williamsport, Pa.; four brothers, Richard Sullivan, Marvin Sullivan, Leo Sullivan and Robert Sullivan, all of Hillsgrove, Pa.; and a grandson, Connor Matthew Smith on Dec. 24, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., with the Rev. Kenneth Sullivan, her brother, officiating. Interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Forksville, Pa.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home.
