Charles A. Wright, 86, of Windfall, Pa., passed away at the Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013.
Born in Canton on March 9, 1927, Charles Addison Wright was one of five children in the family of the late Wilbur R. and Mary (Mason) Wright. He was a 1945 graduate of Canton High School. In early years, Charles dairy farmed at the family homestead near East Canton. He later established and operated Wright's Dairy Bar and Restaurant in North Towanda for several years before moving to southern New York State where he worked with heavy equipment in the highway construction field as an operating engineer. Charlie possessed a great sense of humor and had many interests in life. In earlier years, he earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying his own plane.
Surviving are his sister, Nona Gail (Stanley) Brown of Loganville, Pa.; seven nieces and nephews, Gerald "Jerry" (Eva) Hawthorne of Windfall, Wilbur "Bill" Anderson of New Albany, Penny Anderson of Falls Church, Va., Dave (Pat) Wright and Shelia (Thad Jr.) Woodward all of Canton, David (Mary) Brown of Loganville and Linda (Nicholas) Krupa of Huntingdon, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Wright of Canton; and many cousins.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Charles was predeceased by siblings, Ella Lorene Hawthorne, Frances Anderson and Robert M. "Bob" Wright; two nephews, Scott Brown and Gary Wright; two brothers-in-law, George Anderson and Gerald Hawthorne.
Family invites friends to call from 12 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., in Canton. Rev. Richard Noggle will officiate the funeral and committal services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at East Canton Cemetery at a later date.
