Donald E. Bishop

Donald E. Bishop, 55, of Ulster, Pa. passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Don was born in Towanda, Pa. on July 1, 1958, the son of Jack and Irene Spencer Bishop. He was a graduate of Athens Area High School with the class of 1976. Following the strong and dedicated work ethic tradition of their parents, Don and his brothers Steve and Andy formed Bishop Brothers Construction in 1983 as a residential construction company and expanded the business over the years. Don formerly served as an Ulster Township Supervisor and was president of the Ulster Cemetery Association. He was a social member of Beirne-Webster VFW Post in Towanda and was a former member of the Ulster Chamber of Commerce, Ulster-Sheshequin Fire Company, and the Southern Tier Ropers Association. Don loved the outdoors, horses, attending rodeos, team roping (healer), golfing, fishing, grilling but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his daughters, Malisa Bishop (Stan Nichols) of Athens, Elizabeth Bishop of Ulster; his grandson, Shane Neal who was the "Light of his Life" with whom he shared as much time as possible; his parents, Jack and Irene Bishop of Ulster; brothers, Steve Bishop and wife Teri of Hornbrook, Andy Bishop and wife Jackie of Litchfield; sister, Cheri Walker and husband Franklin of Ulster; nieces, Stephanie Thetga and Samantha Bishop; nephews, Jeff and Dustin Bishop and Bud Walker; several great nieces and great nephews; his companion, Audrey Raupers Oliver; and special friends, Dick Hill and Gene Rice; as well as many additional friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Timothy Geiger officiating. Interment will be private in the Ulster Cemetery.
