Harry M. Steele

Harry M. Steele, age 92, of Wyalusing, Pa. passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton, Pa. after a brief illness.

Harry was born in Rushville, Pa. on Sept. 6, 1920, a son of the late William and Laura Junk Steele. Harry attended Camptown School, and then worked for Jeff Barto on the farm in Camptown.

Harry served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 as a "Technician third grade signal service battalion's aviation." He was awarded several medals and ribbons. Afterwards he was employed by UniRoyal Chemical in Naugatuck, Conn., from which he retired in 1985.

Harry was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1536 in Sayre, Pa., and a member of the Wyalusing Methodist Church.

Harry is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Franklin, Alice Franklin and Irene Sutton, also a brother, Earl Steele. Also predeceased by his first wife Ruth McKernan Steele, and his second wife, Ruth Bonney Steele.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853, with the Rev. William L. Westbrook Sr. presiding, interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery.
