Irma Rose Wittig Sampson, 83, of Wellsboro, went to be with the Lord who she loved and served, on June 30, 2014 at the Williamsport Regional Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Donald Sampson who preceded her in death Aug. 13, 2003.
Irma was born April 9, 1931 in Ulster, Pa., the daughter of the late Fred and Sarah (Fish) Wittig. She was a graduate of Mansfield University with a BS in Music Education and a Masters in Elementary Education from Faith Baptist Seminary, Anderson, S.C. Irma was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Tioga, Pa., and used her musical gifts while serving as organist or pianist in several churches during her lifetime.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sarajean (Allen) Harmon, Taylors, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Peg) Sampson, Cedarville, Ohio and Walter (Charlene) Sampson, Wellsboro, Pa.; sister, Jennie Locke, Horseheads, N.Y.; grandchildren, Darrel Harmon (Libby) Greenville, S.C., Greg Harmon (Riva), Homestead, Fla., Valerie Tieman (Luc), Maine, Robert D. Sampson, Kettering, Ohio, David Sampson (Lyn), Jamestown, Ohio, Jeffrey Sampson (Brittany), Xenia, Ohio, Daniel Sampson, Cedarville, Ohio, Julie Owlett (Gilbert), Middlebury Center, Pa., Kimberly Butler (Aaron), Wellsboro, Pa., Matthew Sampson, Wellsboro; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Irma's Life Celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro, Pa. The service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Steven Neff officiating. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery.
