James V. Leone, 83, of East Smithfield, Pa., passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. following a brief illness.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1930 in Jersey City, N.J., the son of the late Edmundo and Adeline Ditursi Leone.
Jim was known for his ability to repair and bind books. His career consisted of over 40 years in all phases of book manufacturing. Jim played and taught the accordion, was a member and in the choir of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He was also a member of the East Smithfield Senior's Club.
He is predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan, at home; son, Edmund and Isabel Leone of Teaneck, N.J.; two grandsons, James Peter and Michael Christopher; siblings, Louis Fontana, Adelchi and Beverly Leone, Angela and Paul Rizzo; sisters-in-law, Rosemarie and Louise Auletto; a brother-in-law, William Zeitvogel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa. A Mass of Christian burial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with the Rev. Andrew Langan officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
