On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, Janet (Braund) Brown of Monroeton passed away unexpectedly as the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was 79 years of age. Born in Sayre on April 9, 1933 and raised in the vicinity of Wetona, she was the daughter of J. Ward and Josephine (Hanscom) Braund. Throughout most of her life Janet was a dairy farmer as well as a homemaker. She was a great lover of animals, be they farm animals or house pets. She was also a thirty year member of the Troy Chapter of TOPS. Janet was a woman of great faith in the Lord and was a lifelong member of the Wetona United Methodist Church. Most of all her family was the nucleus of her universe. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them and took pride in their achievements.
Janet is survived by her husband, Morris E. Brown, at home; sons Randy King (fiancé Sabrina Von Hagn) of Wetona, Chris King of Dublin, Thane King of Waverly N.Y., Eric (Tammy) King of Springfield and Kelly King and Cody King, both of Troy; daughters Mia (Rodney) Parks of West Burlington, Kyna (Brad) Hoose of Shermansdale and Shana (Chad) Spencer of Granville Summit; brother Elwood (Letrice) Braund of Wetona; grandchildren Derek Parks, Ryan King, Adam King, Melanie Morris, Ashley Inman, Devon King, Cassandra King, Jenna King, Skylar King, Alexa King, Courtland Hoose, Kate Hoose, Jack Hoose, Levi Hoose, Leah Hoose, Sullivan Spencer, Ridge Spencer, Savannah Spencer and Ty Spencer; and great-grandchildren Jayden King, Trinity King, Isabella King, Olivia Inman, William King, Michael King and Macy King.
In addition to her parents, J. Ward and Josephine Braund, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Miles B King, brother Raymond Braund and grandson Daren Parks.
Calling hours will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 13, at First United Methodist Church, 205 Redington Ave., Troy. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Noggle officiating. Interment will follow in the Wetona Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers and suggest that memorial contributions be directed to the Bradford County Humane Society, Rte. 220, Ulster, PA 18850.
