Madeline Tillotson

Madeline Tillotson, 87, longtime resident of LeRoy, was called home to her loving Savior on Tuesday, March 19 from Towanda Memorial Hospital.

Madeline Mae was born in Laquin on Oct. 13, 1925. She was a daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Mary (Kohler) Mott and a graduate of Canton High School's class of 1943. On Nov. 4, 1946, she married Frank Tillotson in Canton.

Madeline's life revolved around caring for her family and home. Her faith in the Lord was her guide through life. She was happiest when keeping busy and will be remembered as a talented cook and a great help on the family dairy farm in LeRoy Township. Madeline was a member of the Independent Baptist Church in Towanda and taught Sunday School for many years. She also was active with the Child Evangelism Fellowship Organization.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 66 years, Frank; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Gilbert and Linda (Wayne) Millard all of LeRoy; seven grandchildren, Dave (Jen) Gilbert, Timothy (Crystal) Millard, Jesse (Amy) Millard, Joe (Bonnie) Millard, Sarah (Steve) Beers, Maggie (Randy) Gilliland and Anna Warnick; 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Packard of Dansville, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Mott of Canton and Shirley Mott of Easton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

She was predeceased by eight siblings, Evelyn Newman, Margaret Loomis, Doris Hurley, Martin, Joseph, Horace, Stephen and Harry Mott; a son-in-law, William "Bill" Gilbert; three great grandchildren and a special aunt, Helen McBlane.

Calling hours are 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, with Rev. Don Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Flats Cemetery. Those who wish may consider a memorial in Madeline's name to the Child Evangelism Fellowship at 532 Old Mills Rd. Towanda, PA 18848.
