Marjorie Elizabeth Swackhammer Jayne

Marjorie Elizabeth Swackhammer Jayne, 73, of Athens, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 20, 2013.

Marjorie was born in Sayre on March 10, 1940, the daughter of Daniel A. and Pearlena Hoover Swackhammer. For many years Marjorie was a waitress at the Villa Sena in Towanda. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Marjorie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Towanda.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Clarice and James Anderson of Chemung, N.Y., Rachel Bailey of Monroeton, Ronald and Laura Bailey of N.Y.; siblings, Lola and Richard Benjamin of Towanda, Mabel and Tracy Champluvier of Towanda, Veronica Compton of Athens, Skip and Lisa Swackhammer of Huntsville, Texas, Fred and Shelly Swackhammer of Tunkhannock, Ed and Marion Swackhammer of Addison, N.Y., Diane Craig and Michael Nichols of Rome; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel A. Swackhammer on Dec. 23, 1973, and Pearlena Swackhammer on Feb. 11, 2007; husband, Frank Jayne; brothers, Daniel Swackhammer and William Swackhammer; sisters, Maude Tompson and Phyllis Smith.

Abiding by Marjorie's request there are no services. The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., is assisting the family with arrangements.
