Mary Jane Walsh

Mary Jane Walsh of Towanda, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Mary Jane was born in Towanda the daughter of James B. Walsh and Mary E. Cole Walsh.

She was a graduate of Towanda High School and was employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for 38 years until her retirement. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Sylvania Women's Club and the Sylvania Quarter Century Club.

Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Marie Walsh of Towanda; sister-in-law, Betty Walsh of Rochester, N.Y.; 21 nieces and nephews and several cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Elsie Walsh, brother, Robert Walsh, sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Robert Costello and Marjorie and Lloyd Schmeckenbecher.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Third St., Towanda. with Rev. Edward Michelini, pastor as celebrant.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, North Towanda Twp. at a later date.

The family suggests that contributions be directed to St. Agnes School, 102 Third St., Towanda, PA 18848 in Mary Jane's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. There are no calling hours.
