Mary M. Slater

Mary M. Slater, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband, William Slater; two children, Daniel (Karen) Slater, Debra (George) Warden; three grandchildren, Jill (Scott) Thaisz, Amanda (Junior) Hinds and Brian Slater; and two great-grandchildren, Shane and Brendan Thaisz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Marion Kelly; and brother, Jesse Murphy. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Beulah Bailey; brothers, Fenton Murphy and Dawson Murphy; and grandson, Drew Warden.

She was the daughter of the late Howard and Faith Murphy. Mary graduated from Towanda High School in 1949, resided on Sugar Creek Road in N. Towanda, and attended the N. Towanda Methodist Church. She and her husband lived in Arizona for 27 years before moving back east to Victor, N.Y. in 2003. She enjoyed painting, camping and traveling around the country with her husband.

A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda, Pa. is assisting the Slater family with arrangements. Memories and condolences may be expressed and shared by visiting
