Patricia T. Guild of South Dennis, Mass. and Sun City West, Ariz., passed away suddenly on Oct. 28, 2012 in Phoenix, Ariz. Daughter of the late Agnes Lynch Turk and Andrew Turk, she was born Sayre, on April 17, 1925 and spent her childhood in Athens. She earned her bachelors degree in journalism from Penn State University
where she began a happy and lifelong association with her sisters in the Delta-Gamma sorority. She worked as a journalist
at several newspapers on the east coast and later earned her masters degree in communications from Fairfield University.
Patricia was happily married to Fenton Guild for 52 years and raised four sons. She was a very active mother who was devoted to her family and managed ten family moves to Buffalo, N.Y., Clarence Center, N.Y., Ridgewood, N.J., Athens, Sunnyvale, Calif., Ramsey, N.J., Fairfield, Conn., Sudbury, Mass., South Dennis, Mass. and Sun City West, Ariz.
She was a superb writer and excellent photographer and enjoyed swimming, yoga, golf, travel and a good glass of wine. Patricia was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic parish in Sun City West, Ariz. and of St Pius X Parish in Yarmouth, Mass..
She was very active up to the very end of her life, traveling between Cape Cod and Arizona every six months, attracting and entertaining family members at houses in both locations.
She leaves behind her sister, Mary McSparron (Buffalo, N.Y.); four sons, Gregory (Springfield), Richard (Saddle River, N.J.), Robert (Tolland, Conn.) and Michael (Gilroy, Calif.); ten grandchildren, Timothy, Carissa, Jennifer, Kathleen, Kelly, Megan, Matt, Zach, Wes and Meg; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ryan; and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Fenton in 2001.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Third St., Towanda, followed by burial in the Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, N. Towanda.
