Phyllis M. Bailey, 92, of 90 Shaw Blvd., Monroeton, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Phyllis was born in Laquin, Pa., on June 23, 1921, the daughter of Frederick T. Bailey and Carrie L. Knupper Bailey. She was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1940. Phyllis served as a postal clerk and as assistant post master for the Monroeton Post Office for many years. She was a member of the Monroeton United Methodist Church and served as church organist for the Monroeton Presbyterian Church for many years. Phyllis loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, hosting memorable family reunions and over the years crocheted many hats and mittens for school children and churches in need and lap robes for residents at the Bradford County Manor. Phyllis was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Towanda.
Surviving are her daughters, Ruth (Stephen) Suho, Kathy (Benjamin) Innes, Audrey (William) Kilmer; grandchildren, Brian (Natalie) Innes, Chris (Jennifer) Suho, Elizabeth (Tom) Shortledge, Nicole (Ryan) Newman, Adam (Rebecca) Innes, Jeffrey Suho, Erik Kilmer (Joi Lucas), Shannon Kilmer; great grandchildren, Rhys Newman, Lyla Innes, Jack Shortledge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles H. Bailey on Nov. 26, 2004 and by siblings, Wilmer Bailey, Brenton Bailey, Myrtle Harris and Cleo Gates.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
