Raymond A. Becker Jr.

Raymond A. Becker Jr., age 86, of Dushore, Pa., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Highland Care Center in Laporte, Pa., after a brief illness.

Ray was born in Mount Carmel, Pa., on April 2, 1927, a son of the late Raymond Albert Becker Sr. and Elizabeth Porembo Becker. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked for the AKZO Chemical Mfg. Co. in Edison, N.J., retiring after 21 years of service. He married the love of his life, Ora Minier Lawrence on June 9, 1984, at Trinity Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Mildred, Pa. They recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary.

Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially camping. Ray was a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, Pa.

Surviving are his spouse, Ora at home; son, Texas Lawrence Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Renee Shrimp of New Albany, Pa.; granddaughter, Nichole Morgan of Dushore, Pa.; great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Morgan of Dushore, Pa.; two brothers, Robert (Donna) Becker of New Brunswick, N.J., Donald (Evelyn) Becker of Edison, N.J.; sister, Catherine Moore of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother-in-law, Oliver G. Minier of Republic, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Florence Dieffenbach of Liberty Corners, Pa., Donna Guthrie of Kalispell, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Trinity Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Mildred, Pa., with Rev. Robert G. Kaltenbaugh, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at Trinity Chapel, Mildred, Pa.

Arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa.
