Rita S. Kellogg

Rita S. Kellogg, 79, of Dempsey Hill Road, New Albany, Pa. peacefully passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 2014. Rita was born in New Albany on June 17, 1934 the daughter of Clifford and Lula Rhodes Slocum. She was a graduate of the New Albany High School class of 1952. On April 20, 1957, Rita married Gerald W. "Bill" Kellogg at the home of C.W. Slocum in New Albany.

Rita assisted her husband Bill in the operation of their dairy farm in Albany Township for many years and was well known for hosting Toy Parties in the area. Rita was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and was an enthusiastic bingo player.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Gerald W. "Bill" Kellogg; children, Melody Kellogg and husband Robert Pecorella of Staten Island, N.Y., Tina Kellogg and husband Bob Baker of New Albany, Lorita Valente and husband Steve Valente of Manheim, Pa., William "Bill" Kellogg and fiancé Aimee Space of New Albany; grandsons, Trevor, Steven and William; her sister, Rosemary Whyte of Binghamton, N.Y.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cindy Lou Kellogg and a sister, Jane Dunn.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Terry Van Horn officiating at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, Pa.

Interment will be private in the Laddsburg Cemetery, Albany Township, Pa.
