Robert Dale Beeman, 88, of Luthers Mills, Pa. passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at home. Born June 3, 1926 at Edinger Hill, Laceyville, Pa., he was the son of Nolan Clell Beeman and Helen Myrtle Otis Beeman.
He is survived by three daughters, Faith Marie Beeman (Mrs. Gary) Rose of Elmira Heights, N.Y., Jeannine Lea Beeman (Mrs. Alfred) Kithcart of Athens, Pa. and Kathy Louise Beeman (Mrs. Robert) Peters of LeRoy, Pa.; six grandchildren, Cindy (Tim) Brink of Sayre, Pa., Phillip (Sharon) Kithcart of Athens, Pa., William Kithcart, Charles Kithcart of Athens, Pa., Ronnice (Shannon) Terry of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Darlene (Travis) Thompson of Mansfield, Pa.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mildred; two sisters, Jeanne Marie Newberry and Barbara Helen James; and brothers, Kenneth in infancy, Dale and Larry.
Bob attended various area schools, graduating from Troy High School in late May of 1944. He went on active duty with the U.S. Army Air Corps in early June of that year at Kessler Field, Biloxi, Miss.
On May 26, 1945, Bob married the former Mildred Louise McNeal at Burlington, Pa. In late November of 1945, Bob received his honorable discharge from the Air Corps with an airplane engine mechanic rating at Scott Field and the couple moved from St. Louis, Mo. where they had been living since V-J Day to Bradford County where they spent the major part of the rest of their lives. Bob worked mostly as a heavy equipment operator on road and power plant construction projects in New York and Pennsylvania and in local coal strip mines. He retired in June of 1998 following 25 years of service with the Bradford County division of PennDOT. Bob was a member of the Luthers Mills United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with Pastor Jasper Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa. with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
