Sandra K. Kisch

Sandra K. Kisch, 70, of 14 Walnut St., Towanda, Pa., passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Sandra was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Feb. 5, 1943, the daughter of Edgar S. Byron and Violetta K. Gomersall Byron. She was a graduate of Dormont High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the University of Pittsburgh, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Sandra later served with the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Jr. Grade stationed at Coronado Naval Base in San Diego, Calif. She was employed as a registered nurse by the Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital in Castle Point, N.Y., and by additional medical facilities and home health care providers for a number of years.

Sandra loved horses and owned a small horse ranch in Sullivan County, N.Y., in earlier years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, needlework and model railroading.

Surviving are her daughters, Jeanne Johnson and husband Tim of Liberty, N.Y., SFC Linda Turner and Jeff Winslow of Sparks, Nev.; grandchildren, Danielle, Travis, Starla and Shawna; her sister, Marjorie A. Byron of Towanda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Kisch on Nov. 11, 1981; mother, Violetta K. Byron on Oct. 26, 2004; and father, Edgar S. Byron on April 18, 2008.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa., with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
