Barbara W. Brainard, 81, widow of Truman F. Brainard of Wysox formerly of North Towanda passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2013 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township.

Barbara was born in Astoria, Queens, N.Y. on Dec. 9, 1931 the daughter of Edward and Margaret Wolff. She moved to New Albany in 1946 and was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School. Barbara was formerly employed as a secretary-bookkeeper for several area businesses and retired from the Wyalusing Schools in 1994. She served as New Albany Borough Auditor for over 20 years. Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her flower gardens.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Tom Wood and their daughter, Alissa with whom she resided for the past 6 years until her health failed; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Marilyn Brainard and their children, Travis and Lauryn (Cody) Mosier, and H. Ed and Pat Brainard and their son, Tyler; and very special friends in her life that were always there for her, Vida Williams (Lee) and Sandy Klawonn (Ralph).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman F. Brainard in 2003, sister, Betty and brother, Edward.
A private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda with Rev. Jackie Condon, pastor of the Rome United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
