Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all — Our loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother Claude E. Coon, 59, of Ulster, Pa. (Rome Township) passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 8, 2013 at his home.
The Guest Book is expired.
Claude was born on Jan. 10, 1954, one of 10 children of Arthur Datus and Margaret (VanWinkle) Coon. He was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School Class of 1972. On July 28, 1973, he married Patricia Ayers and together they shared 40 years of happiness. Claude was a member of the Rome Presbyterian Church where he served as a former trustee. A devoted husband, father and grandfather — his greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by his family. Claude was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and being amongst mother nature's greatest surroundings. He had a special talent for woodworking and loved to travel. Claude retired from E.I. Dupont in November of 2012 after 39 years of employment there.
Claude will be greatly missed by his loving wife Patricia Coon; his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Bobbie Coon of Sidney, Neb.; his daughter and son-in-law Meranda and Kevin Abma of Burlington; his special grandchildren Haley, Landon, Kevin "Dutch" and Mason. His siblings Lloyd (Linda) Coon of Rochester, N.Y.; Larry (Nancy) Coon of Endicott, Donald Coon of Towanda, Alan (Sue) Coon of Milan, Arthur William Coon of Towanda, Robert (Kathy) Coon of Rome, Kevin Coon of Wyalsuing, Denise (Jerry) Patterson of Waverly, Pam (Tim) Lovitt of Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Margaret Coon.

A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 at the church.
