D. Jeremy "Jerry" Innes, 78 of Owego, N.Y. passed peacefully on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 with his family at his side.

Jerry was born in Canton, Pa. and graduated from Canton High School and Pennsylvania State University. He worked at IBM for 32 years in the Federal Systems Division spending time in Endicott, N.Y., Huntsville, Ala. and Owego. His early work focused on the Space Program supporting NASA and the Apollo missions as a software and systems manager and continued with other Federal programs until his retirement in 1990 as a member of IBM's Quarter Century Club.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and their four children, Carolyn (Dale) Campbell of Owego, N.Y., Daniel (Patricia) Innes of West Newbury, Mass., Jeffrey (Camilla) Innes of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Michael (Sarah) Innes of Richmond, Va.; his four brothers, Jon (Judy) Innes of Bethlehem, Pa., Tom (Karen) Innes of Scottsdale, Ariz., Steve (Debi) Innes of Canton, Pa., and Ben (Kathy) Innes of Lock Haven, Pa.; and his grandchildren Katie, Jimmy, David; Brendan, Trevor; Sean, Kiki; Judson, Laurence and Charles.

Inquisitive and self-reliant, Jerry modeled a life-long pursuit of learning which he instilled in those around him. Jerry was an avid reader, a master of crossword puzzles and an avid sports fan who enjoyed an occasional game of golf and game of chess with his grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street in Owego with the Rev. William Moorby officiating. The family invites friends to call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street in Owego. Memorial donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Tioga County Rural Ministry, 143 North Ave., Owego, NY 13827. Condolences may be made to the family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
